A place to stay in Jamaica, some local food for your European wines!

The weed smoking rastafarians with their reggae music, wherever you look, all you see is the greatest musician and icon Bob Marley's face painted all over the place, on cars, house's walls, concrete walls everywhere, the Lion of Judah, turban wearing Bobodreads are selling coca colas and other bottled beverages at the road sides, the African runaway slaves the Maroons grandchildren are still living in villages up in the hills and the pirates harbour and town Port Royal, what was swallowed by the angry Caribbean sea, it is all there with the wild drum beats of the newest dancehall hits pouring out of pimped up vehicles. In your face, as soon as you step out of the airport, it is all there, Welcome to Jamaica, as every islands of the West Indies, it has his  own way, it s own fragrant and spiciness, Jamaica has its own, probably the most famous one out of many West Indian islands! Beautiful beaches of Montego Bay, Negril, Dunn's River Fall, the crocodile farm, Bob Marley's museum, and boy, if you are here, do not miss the chance to taste one of the world most expensive coffees, from the Blue Mountains coffee fields.

It is Jamaica in your face, enjoy!

If you are planning to visit Jamaica, and looking for an affordable but safe and beautiful accommodation, let me offer you a place where I am going to stay in my "winter" visit:

Neita's Nest - Jamaican BnB -  Highly recommended, wonderful place and professional service!

We are planning to organise a wine tasting with the owner, Michelle in Kingston for the end of this year, and I am going to stay in her place. She is a really nice person, a beautiful lady and after 2 minutes chat with her, she makes you feel like a family member! It is home far away from home,Michelle will make sure you enjoy every minute in her house and Jamaica!

Neita's Nest is doing even more special things for you when you stay at our unique Jamaican Bed and Breakfast. We are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Jamaica Cultural Enterprises for specially arranged tours while you stay with us. Please visit their website for a peek preview.

Her services covering everything you can think of, from airport pick up to city or beach tours or driving around JA!

Send Michelle an email, and talk to her, if you mention my name, you may get a bit of discount for staying over 7 nights!

If you are visiting from Europe, please bring some sweet wines to Michelle, she is a great fan of sweet European wines!

Let's build Neita's cellar:

A Tokaji aszu for the Hungarian visitors is a must - if you bring some sweet Szamorodni ask Michelle to cook  some proper Jamaican curry goat with rice and peas, perfect combination with the wine, do not forget to share your Tokaji with the landlady, for the Aszu, well that is for Michelle for her hard work - if you bring more than one bottle, keep one for her home baked cakes!
Some nice dry whites from the Balaton region with mussels and seafood, or some Eger Bull's Blood for your Jerk Pork - "Yah mon, tekk it hizi!"

From France:
Chateau Jolys Cuvee Jurancon is the one to bring with you!
If you are from Alsace, oh my friend, do not leave those beautiful spicy Pinot Gris wines at home, they are going to be perfect with the Jerk fish!
Italians, Alborosie the Italian reggae star only leaves few miles away, so per favore, 2 bottles of Primitivo di Manduria liquoroso dolce naturale!  I want to taste with that Jamaican Brewmaster Steak, simply because it is tutti delizioso! Prego?

Spainish visitors;Hola Senorita, can I ask for some Miguel Torres made Coronas Tinto Tempranillo from 2008, si two battles are enough! I want to taste with that Jamaican Brewmaster Steak, With your well seasoned Jamaican Pork tenderloin oh i think this medium bodied, full of black cherry fruit with a hint of coffee and smooth gentle oak on the finish is perfect for the meal!

Yes, I won't leave the Germans out of it, as a huge German community is living in the rock.
Get those fresh Rieslings out of the cellar and bring them with you, their freshness and acidity will help you to digest those heavy Jamaican yard foods, low in alcohol, so won't wear you out quickly under the hot sun.I would take some Eva Clüsserath's 2008 Riesling Kabinett from the Mosel region in my suitcase. Well wrapped around, keep it safe for your spicy meals. If you like spicy, well seasoned dishes - well you are at the right place, Jamaicans love spicy meals, so this semi sweet Riesling will serve you well at your dinner table. Luscious, not overly sweet, fresh and fruity wine
Minerality with herbs, peach, pineapple and green apple fruit aromas and flavours, very easy to drink, especially as a bit of bitter and  good acidity balance the sweetness out just perfectly. It will smooths the spiciness of the food a little bit and will add enjoyable fruitiness to it.

Wine tasting in Bin 26 Wine Bar
If you want go to a restaurant, leave your wines, be careful choose the meal and wine carefully, most of the restaurant staff in the Caribbean not really know about what to offer to drink with your meal - it is personal experience - but I know a place for good wines, cigars and great company in Kingston it is called Bin 26 Wine Bar, Michelle is good friends with the owners so just ask her to take you down to Devon House, Hope Street, Kingston  10
If you bored of my wine and Jamaican food mixing and messing about, take a little sip of rum, some more rum, and just drink more rum, of course you won't forget to buy cocktails to your lady friend(s) - visiting partner will be happy for the rum, but local ladies prefer those cocktails, boy!

Bless!
