Wine Offer

Languedoc - Roussillon

Domaine du Peras
Finding a quality entry level wine ( house wine ) is always a challenge as often these wines are produced for the mass market and therefore consistency in the quality is very hard to achieve.

Not only does Mathieu, the winemaker, likes to focus on single variety in order for the consumer to know what is in the glass, but he goes as far as harvesting at night time in order to keep the freshness and the fruitiness, in the wine rather than the oxidised touch or cooked fruit taste, which can be found in so many wines of the region. Entry level, house wine at its very best!

Sauvignon Blanc - 2013Fresh grassy and mineral aromas combine with a crisp clean attack showing this to be well made Sauvignon. The surprising depth and lenght of flavour makes it stand out from the crowd.

Price: £10.00/bottle

Merlot - 2012Rich fruit with jammy notes is tempered by a lovely fresh blackcurrant leaf note and supported by a good but not astringent structure. A versatile food wine!

Price: £10.00/bottle

Cabernet Sauvignon - 2013A value for money, warm climate Cabernet Sauvignon that retains fresh acidity and a nice crunchy structure. A well made, easy drinking wine.

Price: £10.00/bottle

The consultant oenologist is the famed Michel Rolland, and Robert Parker, who has awarded many high ratings to the Malbecs of Lagrézette has described them as the "Quintessence of Cahors".

Chateau Chevaliers-Lagrézette - 2011With 85% Malbec, Château Chevaliers Lagrézette is the Château’s second label. The grapes are harvested, vinified, blended and matured in oak barriques with the utmost care. This long-aging wine can be kept for 8 to 10 years, getting better all the time.

The company was born in 1945, founded by Jose Maria Vaquer Bes. In his home, they had always made wine, so Jose Maria began to sell it using his brand new Opel Blitz car. The Mariol wines from Batea began to reach important markets such as those of Reus and Barcelona, and on the barrels from the city wine merchants it was common to find Batea written in chalk, together with the number of Jose Maria's second truck, a Chevrolet with a 77777 number plate which they said was famous in Catalonia.

The Casa Mariol brand that we see today was created by descendents Marta, Joseph Maria and Miquel Angel in 2007. Not only is the packaging unique, innovative, and eye catching, the wines are great too, representing fantastic value across the range.

The Moutards have been making wine since 1642 from their base in Buxeuil. They produce a range of Champagnes  from their own grapes and from grapes purchased from carefully-chosen growers.

Their own 21 hectare vineyard is situated in the extreme south east of the Champagne appellation on the sunny slopes of the Cote dess Bar. Separeted from the rest of the Champagne by 75kms of land that cannot produce wine, this is the highest region within Champagne, between 160 and 300 metres altitude. Moutard's vineyards benefit from  very particular microclimate. The Pinot Noir thrive on the clay and limestone soils, giving the Champagne's a vineous flavour and strong personality.
Francois Moutard is one of the few growers who still grows the Arbane grape which is much appreciated for the delicacy of its bubbles. As he also grows the Petit Meslier, he is one of the very few vignerons who can produce a Champagne - 6 Cepages - made up of the six allowable grape vareties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Petit Meslier and Arbane.
Highly individual wines!

Dense and complex wine with dark, intense colour.
Direct notes of berries (raspberry, blueberry and cranberry)
are dominant on the nose with chocolate and cherry hiding
in the background. Rounded tannins and the notes of barrel
gives nice character to the wine on the palate. The acid and
alcohol are well balanced with a long finish.

Gere Tamas & Zsolt
Cabernet Sauvignon Selection 2009

Alc.13,5% vol, Bottle size: 0,75 litre

Price: £16/bottle incl VAT

Dark, intense color, promises great wine.
The mushroom and earthy notes from the
characther of the terroir are dominant. With
the fruits (plum, cherry) cocoa and dark chocolate
come up too, which makes a nice round off the barrel use.
Mainly the notes of terroir can be felt on the palate rather
than the notes of grape. Although still in its youth, ageing
will surprise you.

Perfect with beef and game dishes. Also goes well with sauce made from fruit, but try with cheese or chocolate dessert as well. Drink now or keep it for 5-10 years. Recommended drinking temperature:16-18°C.

Father and son run this winery together. Cabernet Franc is one of the main grape varieties for producing high quality red wines in the most southern wine region of Hungary. The sub Mediterranean climate and soil makes this region perfect for Cabernet Franc. This is one of the best wines from this winery, The Selection range is made by carefully selected, smaller crop. This wine spent 2 month in stainless steel tanks and 20 month in Hungarian and French barrel before went for 1 year bottle ageing into the darkness of the cellar. It's a dark-coloured wine with a fine tannin structure and an intensive spicy aroma, with a hint of chocolate and rum on the nose.

Goes well with beef, pork and game dishes. Drink now or keep it for 5-10 years. Recommended drinking temperature: 16-18°C.
